On Monday, Axios reported that Elon Musk “donated” $10 million dollars to bolster Republican, pro-Trump candidate Nate Morris, who is running to succeed retiring Sen. Mitch McConnell in Kentucky.
This represents Musk’s largest contribution ever to any Senate candidate.
As we’ve explained in past posts like How Much Does It Cost To Buy America?, Musk has earned HUGE returns on his previous “investments” in U.S. government officials.
So, when we see contributions like this at Goods Unite Us, we like to dig in and postulate about what the contributor might be buying.
For example, could Musk’s massive contribution be related to Ford’s recent decision last month to shut-down electric battery production at its brand new, multi-billion dollar plant in Kentucky?
Maybe Tesla – Elon Musk’s company – is planning to buy it and wants some government subsidies?
Or maybe Musk is just backing Trump’s pick in Kentucky to curry favor with Trump for a large federal government contract?
It’s anyone’s guess at this point. Only time will tell.
But as soon as we know, you’ll know.
