How Often Do We Update?

We’re proud to announce a few long-awaited features, made possible by our tireless Software and Data teams. Our iOS users can see them now, our Android users will see them shortly:

When is the data updated?

Check any brand’s page to see! In the top right, above the View count.

“Update” means the last time the brand’s data changed due to a new donation or change in senior executives. Our system and Data team check for new updates daily.

While most FEC updates drop monthly or quarterly; campaign finance filing amendments, changes in the executive roster, and mergers and spinoffs occur unpredictably.

Our response is to check daily, to ingest new data whenever it becomes available.

What time period does the data cover?

3 election cycles, or 6 years (the length of a Senate term) by default. Now, if you’d like to see specific cycles or a particular slice of the data, just click the gear icon above the party badge on any brand page and choose what you’d like to see. We have all of it, but you choose which of it matters.

What’s the point of this app?

Consumer activism! Too often, the dollars we spend get used to fight the ballots we cast. That stops when we pay attention to where the dollars go post-purchase, speak out, and stop rewarding the offending companies.

Now, there’s a guided tour available in the Help section of the Menu that walks you through all the ways to hold companies accountable.

Does this really do anything?

Yup. The Make Your Voice Heard section on every brand’s page shows you which other users buy from or boycott a company. It also tells you when a boycott campaign is live and shows the target number of people needed for a campaign to get a brand’s attention.

For every company, there is some number of ex-customers that will get it to change its policies. Our role is:

  • To help you find that milestone for the brands you care about
  • To help you reach that milestone by sharing campaigns with others
  • To show which other campaigns are closest to getting a brand’s attention. That way, you can maximize the impact of your dollars and your time

We also provide substitute options you can use in the meantime, until a brand decides to stop losing money.

Where can I see my Congresspeople?

In the My Politicians section of the Profile. Add in your zip code or choose your politicians to follow them. Then you can see their biggest donors right from your profile.

What’s next?

Shareable lists of top donors to specific politicians and a way to see how a brand’s donations have been trending recently. If you have any suggestions or questions, please reach out to us at contact@goodsuniteus.com
